It's okay to feel

My emotions tend to be on the emotional roller coaster side where one minute I can be up and another minute I can be down. That may sound like a dreary statement to make because to feel that way is to be automatically assumed as being "too emotional" or borderline crazy. It also doesn't help that there is a tendency, a very conscious culture that tells us to hide our emotions or pretend (fake it until you make it).

I know I fall into that category oh too many times because of not giving myself to privilege and opportunity to feel.

And just to clarify a bit, positive statements are good but sometimes that can be over-rated. There are so many colloquialisms that basically tells us to always be okay or to fight to be okay and though that should be the goal and a good one, that won't always be our natural default.

Sometimes you have to feel those array of emotions to process through and get to the root of things. Sometimes your state of being okay comes in the package of periodically not.

My goal is not to highlight one more than the other because truth be, we need both to function and move towards being more healthy (p.s, that should always be the goal). Sometimes we need that push from always feeling low to lead us into self encouragement, change and built strength. Sometimes we need those hard questions that bombards our "happy" to finally be honest with ourselves and others.

Fact is, we need both, they both compliment each other, and in the words of Alessia Cara:

"Healin and Patience are Lovers

Dont place the blame on your heart just to make 'em stop

Just take your time to recover

Because it's easier said... than done"- Alessia Cara: "Easier Said"

So in conclusion, Feel....Process....Feel again...Process...and take it one moment at a time until you can crawl....walk...then run.
