"I'm Present"

Updated: Jul 7, 2020

We all remember those moments of waiting for the teacher to finally call your name so you can hurry up and just say, "Present", if you've never had those gut-wrenching moments well...maybe it was just me.

Over time hearing the words "I'm present" can lose its power when the physical manifestation of those words aren't being seen.

Hearing that Jesus is with us often doesn't sound or feel enough, at least not for me. I want the comfort, but I also want the feelings of what I feel to go away.

To say something like that sounds too bold of a statement to make because throughout scripture God promises to be with us, but to be honest, there are moments where that just doesn't feel enough.

It feels that way maybe because I've stressed the significance of the Presence of God in my life but left out what that Presence Brings.

Jesus's Presence isn't just there for show, it brings Freedom and Liberty.

In John 4, Jesus is seen sitting at a well when a Samaritan woman appears. Couple things to take away from their interaction is:

  1. Jesus was already aware of her situation. He knew the Samaritan woman's story before she told it. This shows "Presence" or awareness to the details of our lives.

  2. But most importantly it shows solution.

Jesus's first words to the woman were, "Give Me a Drink". Based on the direction of the conversation He wasn't interested in her pulling water from the well for Him, He wanted her to give Him a chance.

He knows what we need even when we don't and in His Presence, His Present-ness, He offers Himself, which Holds everything we need.

So yes, sometimes being told God is with You doesn't seem to solve the issue, or it doesn't feel enough, remember that the Presence of God is also the Solution to your problem because He embodies everything we need and more.
