Throughout the bible we see God meeting people and inviting them into the more, a greater plan and purpose He had for their lives. But even more so, Jesus's death was the ultimate invitation, not just for a select group but to anyone who chose to Call upon the Name of the Lord.
Yet... one may think they are exempt from this because of something they've done or continue to do.1 John 1:9 has you covered and it tells you to "confess" and He'll "forgive".
Another may have fallen, over and over again and think that grace has ran out, 2 Corinthians 12:29 and Hebrews 4:16 is a double combination of coverage. 2 Corinthians 12:29 tell us that "His grace is sufficient", and Hebrews 4:16 tells us "to approach His throne of Grace...with Boldness". One reminds that we still have Sonship privileges and the other reminds us that we are still covered.
The interesting thing about the invitations is that before we approach Him, before we tell Him, He already knows what we're going to say or confess to Him, so one maybe puzzled as to why even come in the first place, here's what I think:
God, in His infinite wisdom, knows that our choices are driven by our emotions/desire, which can sometimes or most times be a mess, so to make it more feasible for us, He said the way we show our Love for Him is to obey His commands and His word--> which is every scripture listed in this post and in the Bible.
So us coming to God after we've fallen is us obeying His command/ His word. And with every command there is a promise attached if we follow.
The problem however is that we think His commands are only those that begins with a "Do Not", but rather, His command is also the one that just simply says "Come unto me all who are heavy laden and I will give you rest"(Matt 11:28). A command at the beginning and a promise that follows.
Just as our decisions are a combination of a choice
and a feeling (maybe), the moments we choose to take His word at heart and apply it, we are building up a "tolerance" to be obedient, and with obedience, comes Love for the Father, because it's then we see He is true to His word.
"Cast your burdens unto the Lord, because he cares"- 1 Peter 5:7.. the command is to cast, the promise is that He'll always care.
